Ready for some ace-high entertainment for the whole family? This annual family festival features real chuckwagons, stagecoach rides, rootin’ tootin’ cowboys, Western music, activities like cow chip tossing, roping, bandana decorating, cowboy lingo lessons and much more.
WestFest, the Eiteljorg Museum’s annual Western Festival, has been canceled and will no longer be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010. We apologize to museum supporters who already had this family-friendly festival on their calendars. The Eiteljorg plans to re-imagine WestFest and re-evaluate its place on our calendar. We hope to bring the festival back in 2011.
In the meantime, museum staff will devote attention to two brand new family experiences: The R.B. Annis Western Family Experience and Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure. The Western Family Experience, which opened earlier this summer, is an interactive area that immerses visitors in the lives of a diverse group of Westerners. Guests can erect a totem pole, build a sod house, climb aboard a true-to-life stagecoach and more. Jingle Rails, which opens Nov. 6, is a locomotive wonderland featuring seven trains racing past astonishingly detailed local and Western landmarks made of natural materials.
